Spring Manual

Uncompressing .zip files

Spring supports uploading and uncompressing of zip files to allow uploading files in bulk

If you need to upload numerous files in a batch, Spring allows you to upload a zip file, then uncompress the file directly within Spring to avoid having to upload each file individually.

Zip files can be created with third party software, or natively on Mac OS X and Windows 7.

  • Windows 7: Right-click a folder containing the files you wish to upload, point to Send To, and then click Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Mac OS X: Right-click (or Control-left-click) a folder containing the files you wish to upload, then click Compress "Your Folder Name".

Once you have uploaded the file to Spring, in the File Manager complete the following steps:

1. Open the folder containing the zip file and click the Unzip button below the attachment (See also: Quickly loading the folder for the current page)

2. In the confirmation, approve the request by clicking the Unzip button.

3. Depending on the number of files inside the zip archive it may take a few minutes to complete the request.

4. Once complete, the File Manager will reload displaying the contents of the zip file.

5. You may delete the zip archive once completed if it is no longer required.

6. If you are editing a Page in the Site Manager tab, you will need to save or re-open the page to see the uncompressed files.
